For various reasons, I had decided to discontinue using a second SIM for work. The US phone market is outright hostile to dual SIM phones. I had been using a Xiaomi Mi 9T, but it lacks both Tmobile and ATT's most common LTE bands. And since both carriers are killing of 3G services, that would leave me poor coverage when I am in rural areas.
Since my wife was no longer using her Pixel 3, I decided to play with it. After successfully swapping the battery, I tried flashing Lineage 18 on it. It was great! However, after spending time to set up all my apps, I discovered that it refused to provision VOLTE, and was useless for voice calls.
After a lot of messing around, I discovered that Android 12 does provision VOLTE, and Lineage pushed their first build on the same day I found this out.
Despite being the first LOS 19.1 build for this phone, it is stable so far. I do love when I can get away with reusing an old piece of tech. o/
