Haven't felt the pain of night cramps for a month. Started a little over a year ago. I took a blood test and was low on vitamin B so I started taking Vitamin B pills. But that wasn't the problem.
If you don't know what night cramps are, they are like crazy charlie horses you get at 4 AM or so. You have to get up and walk them off for 30-45 minutes. Your muscles can clamp down hard on your feet and hands and you feel like you are snapping things to break them free. You may have seen handicapped people with hands in weird positions, that sort of thing.
At first I started taking aspirin, a lot of aspirin. it seemed to curb the pain. I didn't realize that aspirin eats holes in your stomach, so soon I had a bleeding ulcer. I can't take anything with NSAIDs, which is pretty much avery painkiller except acetiminophen. But that one will mess your liver up. So I just don't take any painkillers. If i have a crazy headache I just suck it up. If you have a bleeding ulcer you can get a presciption from your doctor that helps you take NSAID without ripping up your stomach more, I don't remember what it is but when I had back surgery they prescribed me something for that. Also I always thought Pepto Bismal was great for stomach aches, but it also has NSAIDS which eat your stomach lining, so it's like they will make your stomach worse so you buy more which will make it worse more. Best thing for stomach issues is drinking (no-sugar) pro-biotic yogurt. Every morning. Totally fix you up.
https://saltwrap.com/pages/research-night-leg-cramp-summaryMy wife did a random blood sugar test on me first hting in the morning and my blood sugar was 300 something, whatever units ... that was like 3 months ago i think. that week there were 3 birthday parties, so i felt like it was unfair time to test lol.
So about a month ago I felt so much pain I was wondering how the heck I was going to survive another 10 years. I changed my diet and that made all the difference. I avoid sugar. Like I was drinking alot of gatorade thinking I was short potassium and that was causing the pain, but that stuff has alot of sugar. A friend gave me magnesium horse pills and they did nothing for my pain.
I changed my diet and haven't had any pain since. I cut out sugar, I quit ordering food from restaurants, and I started drinking Evian water instead of the 5 gallon thing from the local water place. I'm not pushing Evian, it could be any minreal water. I have a feeling the way they treat the water might cause issues. So, I 've narrowed it to water and sugar i think. I buy soda with natural juice and no added sugar to break up the 'monotony of water' :) They have these at the grocery and i can't recall the brand name at the moment, but it's basically carbonated water with a hint of juice.
alcohol does not seem to cause the problem.
