Our BlackBelly sheep have all lambed this spring. One of the ewes rejected a lamb (but kept its twin), so we have to bottle-feed this little girl for the next few weeks.
She is very vocal when she gets hungry

I think one of the students at my wife's school (she teaches at a small local school) will adopt this lamb. I will post some photos of the other lambs we have.

As some of you may know, I worked as a farmer for a few years. Among other things, we had 400 ewes and of course lots of lambs. There were always some that were not accepted by their mothers and had to be bottle-fed. A great job for trainees and students, these lambs always had the name Olaf, even the females
Olaf 1, Olaf 2 etc. They listened to the name (like dogs) and so you could always take all the Olafs for a little walk

Naming the lambs all Olaf is quite funny. We now have two little Olaf's we are bottle-feeding.

There are many sheep around the Portugal property, i see the heard being "moved around" by a farmer. We are thinking of getting some sheep but don't have a "huge" land. Can sheep "hang out" on a few acres or do they need to roam?

Good to hear from you! I was wondering where you landed.
In answer to your question: Yes! Some people have two or three sheep that they keep in their yard until they are fat enough to slaughter. Plus, the sheep keep your grass and plants nicely trimmed, and are very easy to keep in fenced areas, unlike goats which constantly try to escape.
You will want at least two, as they need companions. You can probably buy a couple of those new lambs at the nearby farm for cheap and raise them for 6 months...although you have a young daughter, so slaughter-time might pose some challenges.
